Whatever your reason to visit North Norfolk – and there are many – we hope you’ll come and see us at The George for a cheeky pint, a light lunch or join us for a delectable dinner. Head Chef, Ryan, and his small, but perfectly formed, Kitchen Team love to use the wonderful fresh, local produce available to us and we offer daily Specials (we are now serving local caught crab) as well as our regular menu with long-standing favourites such as sausages and mash, fabulous fish and chips and fresh sea bass. We’re lucky to have some very good local suppliers on hand; with the Cley Smokehouse being just around the corner and Allards Butchers in nearby Holt and all our desserts are homemade right here in our kitchen.
The team of chefs at The George at Cley have created a lunchtime menu and a set a-la-carte dinner menu with daily changing specials. We also serve breakfast – it’s the perfect way to set you up for a day of exploring the local area.
Seasonality is important to us and we like to use hand-picked produce complemented by ingredients from our carefully-chosen suppliers giving us complete control over every element of our menu. In fact, we believe that the provenance of our food is our ultimate commitment to quality. Our kitchen always works with the seasons utilising the best of what we can buy in season whether it be asparagus, pumpkins and squash, samphire or mussels. During the summer months we love to serve local strawberries from Wiveton – hand-picked just a few miles up the road from us here at The George Hotel at Cley.
Our local artisan cheeses are always a big hit – choose from local favourites including Walsingham, Binham Blue amd Norfolk Dapple. And don’t miss our Sunday roasts including our Roast Rib of Beef with seasonal vegetables.

We’re happy to cater for special diets and any specific dietary requirements – we’re well versed in gluten-free cooking.
If you fancy a good tipple, we serve a range of three real ales (Cask Mark accredited) and a 28-bin wine list, with 11 available by the glass. We’ve also got an extensive whisky shelf as well as over 10 gins, some refreshing ciders and there’s Pimms in the summer too.
We hope you’ll pop in soon. We work closely with as many local suppliers as possible, who keep the hotel supplied with fresh fish and meat throughout the year.
